SỰ KHÁC NHAU GIỮA VMWARE HORIZON MIRAGE VÀ VMWARE HORIZON WORKSPACE LÀ GÌ ?

Ngày 5/3/2013, Công ty VMware đã công bố bô giải pháp VMware Horizon Suite, một nền tảng toàn diện trong việc thúc đẩy tính linh hoạt cho nguồn nhân lự, hỗ trợ người dùng đầu cuối kết nối đến dữ liệu, các ứng dụng, máy tính để bàn của họ bằng bất kì thiết bị nào mà không ảnh hưởng tới vấn đề kiểm soát và bảo mật CNTT.

Trong gói giải pháp này, họ nâng cấp VMware Horizon View và Horizon Mirage cùng với sản phẩm mới là VMware Horizon Workspace. Sản phẩm mới này có những cài khác so với Horizon Mirage.

Măc dù VMware đã đưa cùng đưa Mirage và Workspace dưới nền Horizon dành cho di động, nhưng chúng phục vụ những mục đích khác nhau. Mirage khác so với Horizon Workspace vìVMware phát triển những sản phẩm phục vụ cho những nhu cầu khác nhau. Mirage, sử dụng công nghệ từ việc VMware mua lại của Wanova, là một giải pháp quản lý ảnh phân lớp giúp chia tách máy tính cá nhân thành các lớp lô-gic theo sở hữu và quản lý bởi cả bộ phận CNTT và người dùng cuối.Workspace là ứng dụng quản lý thiết bị di động, nó cung cấp một phương pháp an toàn để gửi và nhân tài liệu giữa những người đồng nghiệp và khách hàng của họ.

VMware Horizon Workspace  – Không gian làm việc ảo hóa mới

Người quản trị ảo hóa sử dụng Horizon Workspace để đưa cho người sử dụng đầu cuối một môi trường bao gồm những ứng dụng và dữ liệu cho phép người sử dụng có thể truy cập từ bất kì thiết bị nào – smartphone, tablet hay laptop –miễn là chúng có khả năng kết nối Internet. Horizon Workspace cung cấp các ứng dụng từ một trình duyệt trên Windows và trên các thiết bi di động.Horizon Workspace cho phép người dùng đầu cuối có thể linh hoạt trong việc sử dụng các thiết bị của họ trong khi vẫn đảm bảo yêu cầu từ doanh nghiệp trong việc bảo mật các ứng dụng và thông tin.

Phương pháp tiếp cận tài nguyên qua VMware Horizon Workspace phụ thuộc vào thiết bị đầu cuối được sử dụng. Ví dụ như thiết bị Android hay iOS, là các máy khách Horizon View truy cập vào máy ảo. Những điện thoại thông minh hay máy tính bảng khác phải truy cập thông qua phương thứcHTML5 dựa trên công nghệ AppBlast của VMware.

VMware Horizon Mirage – Máy bàn vật lý tốt hơn

Với Horizon Mirage, người quản trị ảo hóa quản lý hê điều hành Windows trên các máy tính để bàn vật lý. Với Horizon Mirage, người quản trị hệ thống có thể thực hiện số lượng lớn các công việc mà không tốn nhiều thời gian như các phương pháp truyền thống.

Hơn thế nữa, khi sử dụng Horizon Mirage người quản trị có thể tạo ra một máy tính để bàn hay máy tính xách tay mới, bằng việc cập nhật hệ điều hành phiên bản mới và sao chép những thông tin trên máy vật lý đến trung tâm dữ liệu trong trường hợp máy tính để bàn hay máy xách tay bị mất hoặc đánh cắp hoặc không còn hoạt động.

Horizon Mirage sử dụng một cách tiếp cận từng lớp để tách OS, dữ liệu và ứng dụng để những người quản trị có thể quản lý một cách riêng biệt.

Những người quản trị cũng có thể sử dụng Horizon Mirage để quản lý các máy ảo Horizon View. Nếu một quản trị hệ thống cần thay thế hoăc triển khai hệ điều hành trong máy View, sau đó Horizon Mirage có thể thực hiện nhiệm vụ này trong khi vẫn giữ được những ứng dụng người dùng được nguyên vẹn.

Horizon Mirage 4.x Phần 15. – Endpoint Management – Centralize an Endpoint

Prep Work

• The Horizon Mirage Client must be installed on the endpoint.
• The endpoint must have a supported operating system installed.
• The endpoint must have access to the Horizon Mirage Server over TCP/8000.

CVD Auto Creation

There are a couple of different ways to centralize an endpoint in Horizon Mirage. The first is done automatically when the Horizon Mirage Client is installed on the endpoint. To enable this:

1. In the Horizon Mirage Client, right-click System Configuration and choose Settings.

2. On the General tab, make sure a Default CVD Policy is set.

3. On the CVD Auto Creation tab, check Enable automatic CVD creation, customize your User message, and then click OK.

4. With the Client installed on the endpoint, the user will be prompted for their Active Directory domain credentials. Fill them in, and then click OK.

5. Click Close once registration has completed.

6. The CVD upload will now commence. When finished, the CVD is centralized.

Manually Centralize an Endpoint

1. Open Inventory > Pending Devices and find the Device you want to centralize. Right-click it, and choose Centralize Endpoint.

2. Choose the CVD Policy you want to apply to the endpoint, and then click Next.

3. Select whether you want to apply a Base Layer to the end point or not, if necessary, choose a Base Layer. Click Next.

4. Select a Target Volume (or leave at Automatically choose a volume), and then clickNext.

5. Resolve any compatibility issues that exist if necessary. Otherwise, click Next.

6. Review the Summary, and then click Finish.

7. The endpoint will now complete an upload (optionally, a Base Layer will apply and another upload will complete). When finished, the centralization is complete.

Horizon Mirage 4.x Phần 14. – Endpoint Management – Client Installation and Configuration

Horizon Mirage 4.4 Client Installation

1. Double-click MirageClient.64.35175.msi (or.x86.35175 if your client is 32-bit).

2. Click Run if prompted.

3. Click Next.

4. Accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.

5. Type in the fully-qualified domain name for the Horizon Mirage Server location, check Use SSL to connect to the server, and then click Next.

6. Click Install.

7. Click Yes on the UAC window if prompted.

8. Click Finish to complete the installation.

9. After the installation is complete, you should see a new icon for Horizon Mirage in your system tray.

10. Double-click the Horizon Mirage icon, then you should see the client in the following state:

• Connection Status: Connected
• Current Action: Pending Assignment

The Horizon Mirage client installation is now complete.

Horizon Mirage 4.x Phần 13. – Image Manager – Manage the Driver Library and Profiles

Prep Work

• Downloaded, extracted, and moved to a network shared the drivers I want to import.

Import Drivers Into the Driver Library

1. In the Horizon Mirage Console, choose Driver Library > Folders > All

2. Click the little wand icon to Import Drivers.

3. Type in the UNC path to the driver location, check Keep original folder hierarchy if applicable, and then click OK.

4. Once the drivers have been imported, they’ll show up in the All folder.

Creating a Driver Profile

1. In the Horizon Mirage Console, choose Driver Library > Profiles.

2. Click the green plus sign to create a new Profile.

3. Give the Profile a name, and then choose the associated folders. Click the Rules tab.

4. Create conditions for your rule, and then click OK.

The drivers selected will now be applied whenever a device meets your Profile’s rules under the following conditions:

• Centralization
• Migration
• Hardware migration and restore
• Machine cleanup
• Base layer update
• Set driver library

Horizon Mirage 4.x Phần 12. – Image Manager – Update an App Layer

Note: This is much like the initial App Layer capture we did back in Part 11, with a few caveats and configuration differences.

Prep Work

• A clean Windows 7 machine has already been created with the Horizon Mirage client installed, sitting in Pending Devices.

Creating a Reference CVD for App Layer Capture

1. Go to Common Wizards and click Capture App Layer.

2. Select your pending device, and then click Next.

3. Choose a CVD Policy, and then click Next.

4. Choose the Target Volume for the Reference CVD, and then click Next.

5. Assuming no compatibility issues, click Next.

6. Review the Summary, and then click Finish.

The CVD is now created, and it should go in to Recording App Layer status in the console under Reference CVDs.

7. Install your application and perform any necessary configuration. For this example, I installed and configured Adobe Reader XI. Remember that we did the same for the initial App Layer capture. For the sake of argument, assume this is a new version.

8. Right-click your CVD, and choose Finalize App Layer Capture.

9. Review the recorded applications and make sure the software you installed is listed. Click Next.

10. Select Update an existing layer and the layer to update, give a description and whether this is a minor or major version revision. Click Next.

11. Verify no compatibility issues exist, and then click Next.

12. Review the Summary, and then click Finish.

13. A post-scan will now be executed. When it is finished and all the bits for the new App Layer are uploaded, the new App Layer should show up in inventory under Image Composer > App Layers. Notice the second item with the 1.1 revision.

The App Layer is now complete and ready to be deployed to CVDs.

Horizon Mirage 4.x – phần 11. Image Manager – Update a Base Layer

Prep Work

• I created a new Reference CVD from the Base Layer I created previously
• The new Reference CVD operating system was updated and new software was installed.
• Re-ran Windows 7 Image Readiness

Updating a Base Layer

1. Right-click the Reference CVD (which was just updated and an upload performed), and choose Capture Base Layer.

2. Choose Update an existing layer, select the layer to update, give a description and whether it is a minor or major version revision. Click Next.

3. Verify validation and resolve any issues, if present. Click Next.

4. Review the Summary, and then click Finish.

5. It will now go through an upload process. Once that is complete, the new Base Layer will be available in inventory under Image Composer > Base Layers.

The updated Base Layer is now available to push to existing or new CVDs.

Horizon Mirage 4.x – phần 10. Image Manager – Capture an App Layer

Prep Work

Horizon Mirage 4.x – phần 9. Image Manager – Capture a Base Layer

In the last installment in the series, we created a Reference CVD from a Windows 7 device. In this article, we’re going to take that Reference CVD and create a Base Layer from it.

Capture a Base Layer

1. Click Common Wizards in the Horizon Mirage Management console.

2. Click Capture Base Layer.

3. Choose Use an existing reference CVD (since we captured it in the last post), and then click Next.

4. Choose the appropriate Reference CVD in the inventory, and then click Next.

5. Give the new Base Layer a Name, Description, and Version. Click Next to proceed.

6. Since we prepared the Windows 7 machine for Base Layer capture in the last article, you shouldn’t see any compatibility issues. If you do, resolve them, then proceed. Otherwise, click Next.

7. Click Finish.

Optional: Click Yes to view the activity in the Task List.

Once finished, the new Base Layer will show up in Image Composer > Base Layers.

The captured Base Layer is now ready to be deployed to CVDs. In the next article, we’ll run through the procedure for capturing App Layers.
